  1. Shane Warne, played against higher quality opposition in his career. Hardly ever played Zimbabwe or Bangladesh. Could out smart any batsman and who could forget the ball of the century against England.

  2. I would still say Warne for two reasons:

    1) Murali has got way more of his wickets against lesser teams:

    Wickets V Zimbabwe and Bangladesh:
    Warne: 17
    Murali: 163

Take them away for a real comparision:

    Warne: 691
    Murali: 560

    2) Warne has had to get these wickets after coming on to bowl after some of the other best bowlers like McGrath, Lee, Gillespie (on his day) and Kasprowicz, by which time quite a few wickets would probably already have fallen. Muralitharan is, along with Vaas (and more recently Malinga), has been relied on by to take wickets – he about the only one who does. Warne wasn’t in the same way – other good bowlers in the team.

  3. Shane Warne’s the best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be.

He was a genuis with the ball, he could make the ball turn miles on a flat green pitch, he could change a match in 1 over !!, he could make anything and everything happen with that red cherry in his hand.

He had devastating variations which were so unpredictable !!. Batsmen were scared to face Warne, he had a great repuation on the cricket field as a match winner and a bowler that batsmen hated to play.

He was a pioneer of leg-spin, before Warne came along no-one wanted to bowl leg-spin (everyone wanted to bowl fast), BUT after just 3 or 4 years of playing in the Australian side, suddenly every kid was bowling leg-spin again! He himself started the revolution of spin bowling, 15 years ago fast bowling dominated world cricket !!, 15 years later spin bowling dominates !

Forget about records, Murali is the king of records, BUT Murali doesn’t have is the legendary status that Warne has, even if Murali takes 1,000 wickets, Warne will still be known as the greatest.

  4. As you said Murli,Warne,Kumble,Chandrashekhar,Bedi
Gibbs some more Prassanna Venkat Hogg etc are world
class spinners but I will Rank 1 to Chandrashekhar because
India is test debut 1932 and they won 1st match after 20
years in 1951 in India against England. Chandrashekhar
is test debut 1965 He is the biggest match winner of India
in abroads with 42 wickets in five tests his 6 for 38 gave
first Indian series victory at overseas in 1971 against England
at oval England. And also he was instrumentalin India’s first
victory in Autralia against Australia in 1971 and he has taken
12 wickets for 104 runs at MCG. in 58 matches carrier more
then 20 times he was the man of the match. Chandra was rare jwell,Batsman did not Know quite what to expect from him An attck of Polio in child hood left with right arm with his and he turn this handicap into an advantage. After a long boncing runup he delivered sharp googli, legbreak and topspinners at near mediaum pace speed. and batsman surprised with his spead and spin and throw the wicket to him.

  5. I think its murali ….coz he never got any sort of support from the other end and sri lanka relied very heavily on him and vaas to bowl the opponent out.

  6. I dont care about your stats up there. It is Shane Warne EVER and WILL EVER BE, great batsman from great team would say the same thing too… whenever I see and hear Shane Warne’s name I think also of the ball of the century.
