What is the best rig to use when fishing in a fresh water pond?

i have been fishing in a pond behind my house and i use spinners and spoons. what else is good to use.

Chosen Answer:

I lot of people think a fly rod is for trout, but I think its highest and greatest use is for a large bass. I caught an 8lb and a 5lb last night on a large white popping bug. Rubber legs, black and white feathers. I lost another that looked to be in the 7 to 8 lb range. It was the finest fishing day of my life and it all happened in less than two hours before dark.

You don’t need a fancy set up. Decent rods are available under 0. Pay more and it just for show. Get you some popping bugs, and sinking spiders, woolly buggers, black and red ants and bream flys. You will have a blast.

Whats the best bait and lure for Sea Bass fishing?

I’ve been told Lugworm is good with a plug or spinner, but I’d like a second opinion.
Fishing from the east coast of Scotland.

Chosen Answer:

There are lots of bass in the sea, and more fish called “bass” which aren’t really bass. They all eat all sorts of things, from sardines, anchovies, mackerel, and other fish, to squid, worms, mussels, crabs, shrimp, and so on, plus a bunch of different types of artificials. If you say where you’re fishing, you might get a useful answer.

ADD: Scotland? I haven’t got a clue.

How do you use a spinner bait, with an open face reel?

I know there is a couple of techniques with these. But what is the best one for bass fishing on lakes??

Here is the lure i am talking about…

http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11011905/Spinner_Bait.jpg

And what is the best technique for using a banjo minnow?????

Thanks for the answers
best one gets
5stars*

Chosen Answer:

Same way with a spincast, or baitcasting reel. Simple cast & retrieve motion (With occasional pauses for giving that injured minnow look.). But, anybody will tell you spinnerbaits are the easiest baits to use. If you can turn a reel handle, you can fish a bass spinnerbait.

Banjo Minnow i don’t know about. Watch the DVD or look it up on Google (OR don’t use it, it’s too complicated for me LOL!)

Happy fishing.

What is the best lures to use while fishing for largemouth bass and/or white bass?

i use bright colored spinner baits, spoons, and little georges. any other suggestions?

Chosen Answer:

Really its what works for you.

If those baits are working, keep hammering at them, if not try switching some things around. Dont go too crazy, the basics will always do real well for you. But its fun to try different things from time to time. I like spinners and jigs, but every once in awhile I’ll throw some live bait out. Just fish what you like and have fun

What brand of spinning reel is the best for bass fishing in Kentucky?

I live in Kentucky and can catch bass anywhere from 2lbs-10lbs. I like to fish with buzz, spinner baits and plastic worms. I want a nice spinning reel that can hold a significant amount of line with 10lb test. I am not wanting to pay a boatload of money. Shoot me some suggestions! Thanks!

Chosen Answer:

A couple of other posts have suggested a Pfleuger reel, and I agree 100%! The Pfleuger President is by far my best spinning reel, and you would not be disappointed with it.

What is the best reel for casting light lures (1/8oz spinners mainly)?

What would be the best reel between 50-250$ that would be ideal for trout fishing with 4lb test, and 1/8oz lures. I need whichever reel will cast those tiny spinners the farthest. Which would you choose for this ? (please include specific model names or links so I know exactly which reel your tallking about) thanks alot everyone. I really appreciate the advice

Chosen Answer:

There are many good reels in that price range.

And you will probably get many different good answer’s.

Here’s my pick:

Number 1- For years I would only use 2 different company’s for freshwater Spinning reels- Shimano & Daiwa. I wanted the “best” and Shimano & Daiwa always delivered.

BUT, in the last 2-3 years I’ve had tremendous luck with the newly designed Pflueger line of Spinning reels. Currently, they have a great line of spinning reels with the “Supreme” as their flagship model.

I own the Supreme and find it to be as good, (if not BETTER), than anything Daiwa or Shimano has made in that price range. In my opinion, the Supreme is as good as any Shimano Stradic (http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_96667____SearchResults ) or Daiwa Sol (http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74466____SearchResults ).

Here are some links so you can view the Supreme and READ the REVIEWS:

Pflueger Supreme- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_94739____SearchResults

You would want the 8025 size for Trout.

47 people give this reel a 4.8 out of 5.

You can purchase a more expensive reel like a Shimano Stradic, Daiwa Sol, Daiwa Steez, Shimano Stella, Etc- but your best “bang for your buck” reel IS the Supreme.

That’s my 2 cent’s. Hope it helps ya? Good luck in your search.

best rigs to use with a spinner reel/rod?

i have a spinning reel and rod..new to fishing but have learned much..have a 6 6 pole medium and a good quality reel that supports up to 12lb tess…the lakes i fish in have bass, brim, trout, catfish, and a few others..question is what is the best fishing rig to use for my setup to catch any of the above…tried a carolina type rig earlier but with no luck..didnt really know how to properly cast it..any info welcomed..

Chosen Answer:

almost everyone who uses light tackle on fresh water has the same rod and reel set up, personaly ive never been a bass guy so i cant help you there. and their isnt any real setups for those rods for all those fish. for cat fish i can tell you the way to catch them everytime no matter what.

take about 2 feet of line, place a number 6 hook and the top…move about 6-8 inchs down and place another hook, then 6 inchs from that place another, then at the very bottom of the line place a hook w/1oz lead sinker. at the top hook use a worm or maybe a blood worm, because the hook w/bait will be the farthest from the bottom and this will allow it to flow with current somewhat, most fish like bluegill and perch will eat that. now the other 2 maybe 3 hooks will be for catfish because the heavy weight will hold those down, use fresh chicken livers.
